Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 1/3 c
  • cider vinegar - 3/4 c
  • dry mustard - 2 tsp
  • black pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • green pepper, thinly sliced - 1 item
  • head red cabbage, shredded - 1/2 item
  • red pepper, thinly sliced - 1 item
  • crushed celery seed
  • head green cabbage, shredded - 1/2 item
  • small red onion, peeled and thinly sliced - 1 item

How to make red and green coleslaw:

Combine oil, sugar and vinegar in small, non-aluminum saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Simmer for 5 minutes and add celery seed, mustard, salt and pepper. Remove from heat.

Toss dressing with cabbage, onion and peppers. Chill, covered with plastic wrap, for at least 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
