Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 2 c
• water - 2 c
• raisins - 1 c
• shortening - 1 c
• cloves - 1 tsp
• cinnamon - 1 tsp
• salt - 1 tsp
• nuts optional - 1/2 c

How to make missionary cake:

Combine ingredients. Put in large pan and boil for 2 minutes. Let mixture cool. Add two teaspoons baking soda and 3 cups flour. Layer or loaf. Bake at 350°. Powdered sugar icing may be used.
