  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1/8 tsp
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
  • evaporated milk
  • coconut
  • unbaked pie shells - 2 item

How to make german chocolate pie:

Melt chocolate with butter over low heat, stirring until blended. Remove from heat. Gradually blend in milk. Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt well in a separate bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla with sugar mixture. Gradually add to chocolate mixture. Pour into pie shells.

Combine coconut and nuts; sprinkle over filling. Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes or brown and puffed. (Filling will be soft but will set when cooled.) Cool 4 hours before cutting. Refrigerate it and it's great.
