Apple crisp
Ingredients/Components
- all-purpose flour - 2 Tbsp
- margarine or butter, softened - 2 Tbsp
- firmly packed brown sugar - 3 Tbsp
- ground cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- bran cereal - 1/3 c
- coarsely chopped, pared tart apples about 2 medium - 1 c
How to make apple crisp:
Using rolling pin, crush the cereal to measure about 1/4 cup. Combine with the 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar in a small bowl. Add margarine, mixing until crumbly. Divide chopped apples between greased 6 ounce custard cups. Sprinkle with the 1 teaspoon flour. Sprinkle cereal mixture evenly over top. Bake in a 350° oven for 25 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve with half and half or ice cream.
