Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 4 c
  • vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • paraffin, melted - 1 item
  • strawberries, capped and washed - 4 c

How to make strawberry preserves:

Boil berries and vinegar in a saucepan for 3 minutes. Add sugar. Boil for 10 minutes. Pour into shallow container and let set overnight. Place preserves in jars the next morning, cover with melted paraffin and place lid on jars. Yields 2 1/2 pints.

Note: To remove foam from preserves, place waxed paper onto warm preserves after pouring into shallow container. The foam sticks to the waxed paper.
