Swedish heirloom cookies


Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- water - 1 Tbsp
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- butter or margarine, softened - 1/2 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- ground or finely chopped almonds or pecans
How to make swedish heirloom cookies:
Cream shortening and butter until light and fluffy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and salt and cream well. Blend in flour. Add water and vanilla; mix well. Stir in pecans. Shape into 1-inch balls and slightly flatten. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 325° for 12 to 15 minutes, until done. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm. Makes 8 dozen.In Sweden, almonds are used.
