Stuffed green peppers
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- butter or oleo - 2 Tbsp
- dry white wine - 1/2 c
- cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
- minced onion - 3 Tbsp
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- large green peppers - 3 item
- grated sharp Cheddar cheese - 4 oz
- instant rice - 1/2 c
How to make stuffed green peppers:
Split green peppers lengthwise into halves. Remove seeds, stems and membranes.Wash peppers; drop into a large pot of boiling salted water. Turn off heat and let stand 5 minutes. Drain and arrange peppers in a baking dish.
Saute onion in butter 5 minutes. Mix onion, ground beef, rice, salt and 1 can tomato sauce. Fill peppers with meat mixture. Combine 1 can tomato sauce with water and wine; pour over stuffed peppers. Bake in a 350° oven for 40 minutes. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Continue baking for 20 minutes longer.
