Ingredients/Components
- milk
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- corn meal - 2/3 c
How to make spoon bread:
Heat milk to scalding. Add butter and salt slowly. Stir in corn meal. Boil gently for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Cool 5 minutes; then stir in well beaten egg yolks. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased 5 cup casserole and bake in a 375° oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve spooned from dish with butter.
