Soft ginger cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- molasses - 1/4 c
- ginger - 2 tsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
How to make soft ginger cookies:
Combine flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, beat shortening to soften. Gradually add 1 cup sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg and molasses. Beat well. Stir dry ingredients into beaten mixture.Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls. Roll in the 2 tablespoons sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet, about 2 1/2 inches apart. Bake at 350° about 10 minutes or until light brown. Let stand 2 minutes before removing from pan. Makes 24 (3-inch) cookies.
