Shrimp gumbo
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 4 oz
- butter - 4 oz
- chicken broth - 4 c
- medium onion, diced - 1 item
- rice, cooked - 2 c
- garlic, minced - 1 tsp
- green bell pepper, diced - 1 item
- dash Tabasco - 1 item
- okra, sliced - 6 oz
- clam juice, bottled - 2 c
- shrimp, raw, peeled, and deveined - 1 lb
How to make shrimp gumbo:
Melt the butter in a heavy soup pot; whisk in flour and cook stirring frequently over medium low flame until medium brown. Add the vegetables and stir. Add the liquids and bring to a simmer. Add the shrimp and simmer until the vegetables are soft. (45 - 60 minutes) Check seasonings. Serve warm over rice.Recipe categories: Main dish, Gumbo, Stew.
