Sausage cacciatore
Ingredients/Components
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1 item
- medium onion - 1/2 item
- oregano - 1/2 Tbsp
- cloves garlic - 2 item
- olive oil - 1/2 Tbsp
- fresh mushrooms - 5 item
- Italian sausage - 1 lb
- green pepper - 1/2 item
- zucchini - 2 c
- box spaghetti - 1/2 item
- can whole plum tomatoes in puree - 1/2 item
How to make sausage cacciatore:
Cut sausage into 1/2-inch pieces. Crush garlic. Dice onion. Slice zucchini, mushrooms and peppers. Cook spaghetti according to package directions.In large frying pan (wok is fine), brown sausage. Pour in oil. Add garlic and onion. When onion is soft, add zucchini, peppers and mushrooms. When all veggies are crisp, but cooked, crush tomatoes into the pan with your hands and add juice. Add nutmeg, oregano and pepper; stir. Reduce sauce to desired thickness. Pour mixture over drained and rinsed pasta. Yields 2 servings.
