- vanilla - 2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- stick butter - 1 item
- self-rising flour
- cooking oil
- Sift flour and soda together
- small bottle red food color - 1 item
How to make red velvet cake:
Beat eggs; add sugar, oil and vinegar. Sift flour and soda together. Mix flour and buttermilk alternately with egg mixture. Add vanilla and food coloring. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until cake edges separate from pan (makes 3 layers).Icing:1 box powdered sugar1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 stick butter1 c. chopped nuts Melt butter and cheese; add sugar and one cup chopped nuts.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, American.
