Picante sauce
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 Tbsp
- onions, chopped - 8 c
- cans tomato paste - 2 oz
- chopped green peppers - 6 c
- white vinegar - 1 c
- tomatoes, peeled and chopped - 24 c
- canning salt - 4 Tbsp
- jar jalapeno peppers - 1/2 1/2
- chopped hot banana peppers - 6 c
How to make picante sauce:
In a large kettle, mix and bring all ingredients to a boil. Turn to a simmer and cook until reaches desired thickness. Taste; if not hot enough, add more jalapeno peppers. Place in hot pint jars and seal. Hot water bath for 10 minutes. Makes 14 to 15 pints.Recipe categories: Sauces, Dips, Savory sauces.
