Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 4 Tbsp
  • onions, chopped - 8 c
  • cans tomato paste - 2 oz
  • chopped green peppers - 6 c
  • white vinegar - 1 c
  • tomatoes, peeled and chopped - 24 c
  • canning salt - 4 Tbsp
  • jar jalapeno peppers - 1/2 1/2
  • chopped hot banana peppers - 6 c

How to make picante sauce:

In a large kettle, mix and bring all ingredients to a boil. Turn to a simmer and cook until reaches desired thickness. Taste; if not hot enough, add more jalapeno peppers. Place in hot pint jars and seal. Hot water bath for 10 minutes. Makes 14 to 15 pints.
