Peanut brittle
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1 Tbsp
- light corn syrup - 1 c
- raw peanuts 1 lb - 2 c
How to make peanut brittle:
Combine in iron skillet the corn syrup, sugar and water. Stir until sugar dissolves and cooks to 234° or soft ball on candy thermometer. Add raw peanuts and boil to 310° or brittle stage. Remove from heat and add baking soda, vanilla, salt and butter. (These should be mixed in a cup before you begin and mix up so can be added all at once.)
