Old fashioned peanut brittle
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- butter - 1 c
- water - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- light corn syrup - 1 c
- raw peanuts - 2 c
How to make old fashioned peanut brittle:
Heat sugar, corn syrup and water in a 3-quart saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves. When syrup boils, blend in butter. Stir frequently. When temperature reaches 280°, add peanuts. Stir constantly until temperature reaches 305°, hard crack stage.Remove from heat. Quickly stir in soda, mixing well. Pour onto buttered cookie sheet. Loosen from pans when candy hardens. Break into pieces. Makes about 2 1/2 pounds.
