- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- stick margarine - 1 item
- brown sugar - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- coconut - 1/2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- raisins - 1 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- butter or oleo - 3 Tbsp
- nutmeats - 1/2 c
- quick-cooking oatmeal - 1 c
- sweet cream or milk - 2 Tbsp
- Add boiling water and oats, let stand 20 minutes; add other ingredients, beat, bake for 30 minutes at 350°
How to make oatmeal cake:
Cut margarine into small pieces. Add boiling water and oats, let stand 20 minutes; add other ingredients, beat, bake for 30 minutes at 350°. Use Broiled Icing on warm cake. Then place back in oven until lightly browned.Broiled Icing:5 Tbsp. heaping brown sugar2 Tbsp. sweet cream or milk1/2 c. nutmeats3 Tbsp. butter or oleo1/2 c. coconut vanilla Melt butter; add other ingredients.
