Maple baked beans
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 2 qt
- cider vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- ground ginger - 2 tsp
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- 2 c - 1 lb
- onion - 1/2 c
- ground savory - 1 tsp
- maple syrup dark - 1 c
- sweet and hard cider - 1 c
- salt pork or 1/2 lb - 1/2 lb
How to make maple baked beans:
Cover and soak beans overnight. Drain and reserve water. Boil salt pork and simmer.Preheat oven to 275°. Place dry ingredients in a bowl; add vinegar. Stir to a paste, then stir in cider.
Combine beans, syrup, onion and spice mix in bean pot or casserole dish. Add 2 cups of reserved bean water. Stir. Place salt pork or bacon on top. Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours.
