Jumbo raisin cookies

sugar
vanilla - 1 tsp
flour - 4 c
water - 1 c
shortening - 1 c
raisins - 2 c
eggs, beaten slightly - 2 item
each: cinnamon and nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
each: baking soda, baking powder and salt - 1 tsp

How to make jumbo raisin cookies:

Heat oven to 375°. Combine raisins and water in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes.

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in raisins and remaining water. Gradually add combined dry ingredients and blend well. Drop one tablespoon at a time, 1-inch apart, on greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies.
