Ingredients/Components
- salt
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 Tbsp
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- large onion, thinly sliced - 1 item
- chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
- cayenne - 1/8 1/4
- dried thyme - 1/2 tsp
- diced, peeled tomatoes - 5 c
- smoked pork sausage - 1 lb
- raw long grain white rice - 2 c
- cooked shrimp, shelled and deveined - 3 c
How to make jambalaya:
In a large, deep skillet, heat butter. Add onion, green pepper and garlic; saute 6 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat; stir in flour. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups of water, stirring until smooth. Return to heat. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring. Reduce heat to simmer. Cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes, until rice is tender.Recipe categories: Poultry, Meat, Cajun.
