Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar - 1 item
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- all-purpose flour
- molasses - 1/4 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- brown sugar, packed - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
How to make gingersnaps:
Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg and molasses. Blend in remaining ingredients, except granulated sugar. Cover and chill 1 hour.Heat oven to 375°. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Place sugar side up 3-inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Immediately remove from baking sheet. Yields 4 dozen cookies.
