Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- soda - 3/4 tsp
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sifted flour
- light molasses - 1/2 c
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- ground ginger - 1/2 tsp
How to make gingerbread:
Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add egg and molasses; beat thoroughly. Sift together dry ingredients. Add each addition. Bake in greased and lightly floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until done. Serve warm.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
