German chocolate pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- margarine - 1/4 c
- beaten egg - 1 item
- cans evaporated milk - 2 oz
- beaten egg yolks - 2 item
- 9-inch pie crust - 1 item
- can flaked coconut - 1 1/2

How to make german chocolate pie:
In medium saucepan, combine 1/3 cup sugar and cornstarch. Measure 3/4 cup evaporated milk and set aside. Stir the remaining evaporated milk, the chocolate and 1 tablespoon margarine or butter into sugar mixture. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Gradually stir about 1 cup of hot mixture into egg yolks; return mixture to saucepan and bring to gentle boil. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Turn hot filling into baked pie crust.In another saucepan, combine reserved evaporated milk, beaten egg, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup margarine. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Stir in coconut and pecans. Spoon mixture over chocolate filling. Cool pie on wire rack and chill.
