Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour
- Crisco - 1 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- dates, chopped fine
How to make date filled cookies:
Date Filling:8 oz. dates, chopped fine1/2 c. white sugar1 tsp. flour1 c. water Cook filling until thick.Cream Crisco, both sugars, eggs and vanilla. Sift together all dry ingredients. Mix well and gradually add to first mixture. Dough will be very stiff. Let stand for 2 hours. Roll out thin, 1/4 inch, and cut with a biscuit cutter. Put date filling on half of cookie and fold the remaining dough on top. Bake at 350° until brown.
