Chuck wagon stew
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- water - 2 c
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- can whole tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
- dried basil - 1/2 tsp
- dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
- celery salt - 1/4 tsp
- round steak, cut into cubes - 1 1
- medium onion, peeled and sliced into rings - 1 item
- can mushroom steak sauce - 1 oz
- medium potatoes, diced and pared - 2 item
- cans mixed vegetables - 2 oz
How to make chuck wagon stew:
Combine flour, salt and pepper. Dredge beef cubes in flour mixture, reserving remaining flour. In Dutch oven, brown meat in hot oil, turning often. Add onion, water and garlic; cook until tender. Stir tomatoes with liquid into reserved flour; add to meat with mushroom steak sauce, basil, celery salt and cayenne. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Add potatoes; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Stir occasionally; add more water as needed. Stir in mixed vegetables.Recipe categories: Main dish, Beef, Stew.
