Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 c
- salt - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- cider vinegar - 3 c
- onions, chopped - 4 c
- celery seed - 1 Tbsp
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- green peppers - 6 item
- turmeric - 1-1/2 tsp
- medium cabbage - 1 item
- red peppers - 6 item
- green tomatoes - 12 item
How to make chow chow:
Chop vegetables (coarse). Sprinkle with salt. Let stand over night. Drain and rinse. Combine remaining ingredients. Pour over vegetable mixture. Heat to boil. Simmer 3 minutes. Fill hot sterilized jars and seal. Yield: about 8 pints.Recipe categories: Condiments, etc., Vegetables, North american.
