Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 lb
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- canned milk - 6 Tbsp
- + 1 tsp - 2 Tbsp
- well beaten eggs - 2 item
- Remove from heat
How to make chocolate sheet cake:
Bring water, Crisco, margarine and cocoa to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat. Blend sugar, flour and salt, then pour in hot cocoa mix.In another bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and soda. Add other batter; blend evenly. Pour into a greased and floured, very shallow pan (11 x 15 x 2 to 3-inch) and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes. Top of cake will look not quite done. About the last 10 minutes of baking, prepare icing and pour over hot cake as soon as it is removed from oven.Icing:1 stick margarine2 Tbsp. + 1 tsp. cocoa6 Tbsp. canned milk1 lb. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Mix margarine, cocoa and milk in saucepan over low flame. When this is melted and blended, stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Top the icing by sprinkling with chopped pecans.
