Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 6 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- hot water - 1 c
- sticks oleo - 2 item
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
- Icing:1 stick oleo
- buttermilk * - 1/2 c
How to make chocolate sheath cake:
Icing:1 stick oleo4 Tbsp. cocoa6 Tbsp. milk1 tsp. vanilla1 box powdered sugar *Or make your own using 1/2 cup milk and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.In large mixing bowl, sift flour and sugar. In saucepan, combine oleo, cocoa and hot water. Bring to a boil rapidly. Add to flour and sugar while hot. Add salt, buttermilk, cinnamon, eggs, baking soda and vanilla.
Pour into a greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. Punch cake with toothpick 8 to 10 times. Ice while hot.
Icing: Boil oleo, cocoa and milk. Add to powdered sugar. Add vanilla and beat on high until creamy. One cup nuts may be added, if desired.
