Candied sweet potatoes
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- orange juice - 2/3 c
- large sweet potatoes or yams - 4 item
- cinnamon and nutmeg to taste optional - 1 item
How to make candied sweet potatoes:
Cook potatoes until tender. Slice 1/2-inch thick. Put in layers. Dot each layer with half the butter. Melt the rest of the butter with orange juice and brown sugar. Blend well and pour over sweet potatoes. Simmer, basting often, for about 15 minutes or bake at 400° for 15 minutes Sprinkle with cinnamon and/or nutmeg to taste (optional).Recipe categories: Side dish, Potato, Yam/sweet potato.
