Ingredients/Components
- water - 2 qt
- chopped onions - 2 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- bay leaves - 2 item
- red kidney beans - 1 lb
- cloves chopped garlic - 6 item
- black or red pepper to taste - 1 item
- ham seasoning ham bone is great - 1/2 1
How to make cajun red beans and rice:
Soak beans in water overnight. Rinse and sort. Add beans and 2 quarts of water. Combine all ingredients and cook covered on low for approximately 2 hours or until beans are soft. To thicken, mash some beans or add a mixture of cornstarch and water. Serve over rice. Makes 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Side dish, Beans, Rice.
