Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- corn syrup - 2 tsp
How to make buttermilk candy:
Add soda to buttermilk in a 4-quart saucepan. Stir well and let stand one minute. Add sugar, corn syrup and butter. Cook to soft-ball stage, 236° to 238°. Add vanilla and nuts. Beat until begins to thicken. Drop by teaspoon onto buttered cookie sheet.To vary: Double the recipe and to half the finished product, add 1/2 cup coconut instead of nuts. Use 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
