Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- vinegar - 5 c
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- celery seed - 1 tsp
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- green peppers - 2 item
- turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- cucumbers - 1 gal
- medium or 20 small onions - 10 item
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Place container over low heat and keep turning pickles over until mixture reaches the scalding point. Do not boil. Place in jars while hot (first heating the jars). Let stand 48 hours before eating. Yield: 8 pints.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
