Basic beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- oil - 1 item
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- carrots, sliced - 2 c
- bay leaves - 3 item
- celery, sliced - 1 c
- stew meat - 2 lb
- Tabasco sauce to taste - 1 item
- celery rib, sliced - 1 item
- Tony Chachere Original Creole seasoning to taste - 1 item
- can tomatoes with juice, cut up - 1 oz
- medium potatoes, peeled and cut up - 5 item
How to make basic beef stew:
In a large Dutch oven, brown stew meat in oil. Add next 7 items and enough water to cover and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Add carrots and tomatoes. Simmer for 15 minutes. Add sliced celery and potatoes. Simmer until potatoes are tender. Thicken with cornstarch if desired. Remove bay leaves and serve.Recipe categories: Main dish, One Dish meal, Stew.
