  • packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • cider vinegar
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/4 c
  • chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
  • ketchup - 1/2 c
  • chili sauce - 1/4 c
  • garlic clove, minced - 1 item
  • medium onion, quartered - 1 item
  • dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
  • pork spareribs, cut into serving size pieces - 4 lb

How to make barbecued spareribs:

Sauce:1/2 c. cider vinegar1/2 c. packed brown sugar1/2 c. ketchup1/4 c. chili sauce1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce2 Tbsp. chopped onion1 Tbsp. lemon juice1/2 tsp. dry mustard1 garlic clove, minced dash of cayenne pepper In a large kettle or Dutch oven, place ribs and onion. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add enough water to cover ribs; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until tender; drain.

Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Arrange ribs on a rack in a broiler pan. Brush with sauce. Broil 5 inches from heat for 5 minutes on each side, brushing frequently with sauce. Yields 4 servings.
