Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 3 qt
  • cider vinegar - 1/2 c
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • light brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/4 c
  • chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
  • ketchup - 1/2 c
  • chili sauce - 1/2 c
  • dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
  • clove garlic crushed - 1 item
  • country ribs separated - 4 lb
  • medium onion peeled and quartered - 1 item

How to make barbecued ribs:

Place first 5 ingredients in large kettle, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

In medium saucepan combine remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, coat ribs with sauce and cook in hot oven until done, basting frequently. Makes a good marinade for chicken and pork chops.
