Banana cream pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- milk - 2 c
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/3 c
- baked 9-inch pie shell - 1 item
- egg yolks, lightly beaten - 3 item
- medium firm bananas - 3 item
- whipped cream and additional sliced bananas - 1 item
How to make banana cream pie:
In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour and salt. Stir in milk and mix well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir a small amount into the slightly beaten egg yolks. Return all into saucepan; cook for 2 minutes more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla. Cool slightly. Slice bananas into pastry shell. Pour filling over. Cool. Before serving, garnish with whipped cream or Cool Whip and bananas.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
