Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking powder
- baking soda - 3/4 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- mashed ripe banana - 1 c
How to make banana cake:
Heat oven to 350°. In a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add banana, buttermilk, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Beat at low speed until combined. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8 x 1 1/2 or 9 x 1 1/2-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on racks for 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool on racks. Serves 12.
