Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour
- buttermilk or sour milk - 2/3 c
- mashed ripe bananas - 1 c
How to make banana cake:
Grease and lightly flour two 9 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pans. In a mixing bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients. Add shortening and bananas; beat on low speed of electric mixer until combined. Add buttermilk or sour milk, eggs and vanilla; beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Turn batter into prepared pans. Bake in a 350° oven for 30 minutes, or until done. Cool 10 minutes on wire racks. Remove from pans; cool thoroughly. Frost with creamy butter frosting. Makes 12 servings.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
