Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- milk - 3 Tbsp
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking powder
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour
- butter or margarine, softened - 1/4 c
- Cream Cheese Frosting - 1 item
- Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition
- mashed, ripe bananas 2 to 3 medium - 1 c
How to make banana cake:
Cream together sugar, butter and nutmeg until fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in bananas and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Beat into creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in nuts. Spread batter in greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake in 350° oven 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on rack. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.Cream Cheese Frosting:4 c. powdered sugar3 Tbsp. milk1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened1 tsp. vanilla Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth.
