Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- milk
- salt - 1 item
- flour - 4 c
- butter
- water - 2 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- cooking apples - 8 item
How to make apple dumplings:
Syrup:1 c. sugar2 c. water1 1/2 tsp. butter Syrup: Put sugar, water and butter in saucepan. Bring to a boil.Dough: Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add 1 1/2 cups milk; mix with fork. Place on a floured surface. Shape into long rectangle with your hands. Cut into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece with hand.
Place peeled, cored apple in center of dough. Place dab of butter, sugar and sprinkle of cinnamon. Form dough around apple. Poke holes with a fork. Place in baking pan. Pour syrup in pan. Bake at 350° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Serve hot with milk.
