Zippy bean stew
Ingredients/Components
- pepper - 1 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- can chicken broth - 1 item
- Italian seasoning - 1 tsp
- dried basil - 1 tsp
- crushed red pepper - 1/2 3/4
- chopped mushrooms - 1 c
- can black beans, drained
- cans kidney beans, drained
- salt, to taste - 1 tsp
- can white beans, drained
- fresh or canned tomatoes, chopped - 1 qt
- or 4 garlic cloves - 3 item
- chopped smoked sausage or beef - 1/2 3/4
How to make zippy bean stew:
If using fresh tomatoes, cook with onions, mushrooms and garlic in 3 qt. saucepan until nearly tender. Add broth and beans with the chopped meat. Add seasonings and bring to a boil. Simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour covered. Makes 8 to 10 nice servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Beans, Stew.
