Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • vinegar - 3 c
  • celery seed
  • turmeric
  • medium white onions, sliced - 6 item
  • white mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
  • sliced small yellow squash - 4 qt
  • coarse medium salt plain - 1/2 c

How to make yellow squash pickles:

Slice squash, add onion. Add salt; cover with cracked ice. Mix thoroughly; let stand 3 hours.

Combine remaining ingredients; add squash and onion which have been completely drained. Heat to a boil; seal in hot sterilized jars.
