Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- sifted flour
- eggs unbeaten - 2 item
- shortening room temperature - 1/2 c
How to make yellow cake:
Measure sifted flour into sifter. Add sugar, baking powder and salt. Place shortening in mixing bowl. Stir just to soften. Sift in dry ingredients. Add 3/4 cup milk. Beat 2 minutes in mixer or 300 strokes by hand. Add eggs, vanilla and rest of milk. Beat 1 minute or 150 strokes by hand. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in 375° oven in oblong pan for 30 minutes. Use powdered sugar icing.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Infant/baby Friendly.
