Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- flour - 7 c
- yeast - 1 pkg
How to make yeast rolls:
Heat milk, shortening and sugar to boiling point, but do not boil. Cool, then add salt, soda and baking powder. Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons warm water and add to first mixture. Add 7 cups sifted flour, a cup or 2 at a time. Drop by spoonfuls into bowl or crock and set in refrigerator. Make out rolls (as much as needed) 1 or 1 1/2 hours before time to bake. Bake about 12 to 15 minutes at 400° to 425°.Note: I use self-rising flour and omit salt, soda and baking powder.
