Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 C
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 C
- soda - 1 tsp
- dry yeast
- very warm water - 3 Tbsp
- heated buttermilk - 2 C
How to make yeast biscuits:
Mix together flour, salt, soda, sugar. Cut in lard and dry ingredients with a fork. In another bowl mix together dry yeast, very warm water and sugar and let rise. Add 1 cup buttermilk to flour mixture 1/4 cup at a time. Then alternate adding water mixture and yeast mixture. Pour onto floured bread board. Knead 8 minutes or until leathery. Store in refrigerator over night (will keep 4-5 days). Roll on very lightly floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into biscuits.
