  • half and half - 2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • margarine - 1/4 c
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • paprika - 1/2 tsp
  • chicken broth - 6 c
  • curry powder - 1/2 tsp
  • white pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • sliced mushrooms
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • sliced celery - 1/2 c
  • cooked wild rice - 2 c
  • dry sherry optional - 2/3 c
  • flour more is optional - 1/2 c
  • dry chervil optional - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped parsley/chives on top - 1 item

How to make wild rice soup:

In heavy kettle, melt butter. Add onion and celery. Cook 5 minutes until golden. Add mustard. Mix flour in, gradually add broth, stirring constantly, 5 to 8 minutes until slightly thick. Add spices, rice and mushrooms. Reduce to low and add half and half. Simmer.
