Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 3 tsp
- shortening - 1/3 c
- warm water - 2 c
- dry yeast - 6 tsp
- powdered milk - 1/3 c
- sorghum or molasses - 1/3 c
- flour white
- coarse whole wheat flour - 3 c
How to make whole wheat bread:
Mix the yeast with the warm water and a teaspoon sugar. Allow the yeast to dissolve; set aside for 5 to 10 minutes. In large mixing bowl, mix the first 5 ingredients. Add the yeast mixture; mix well. Add sorghum; blend in. Stir in flour to make a stiff dough. Let rise until double its bulk. Make into 2 loaves; place in greased loaf pans.
