Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- butter
- baking powder
- egg whites - 1/4 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- flour, sift before measuring - 2 c
- Add Crisco and 3/4 cup of the milk
How to make white cake:
Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into mixing bowl. Add Crisco and 3/4 cup of the milk. Beat well about 2 minutes. Add the 1/4 cup unbeaten egg whites and remaining 1/4 cup milk. Beat again real well. Add vanilla, mix well. Pour into 3 greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 325° approximately 25 minutes. Cool.Custard Filling:1 1/2 c. milk3/4 c. sugar2 Tbsp. flour1 egg yolk heaping Tbsp. butter Mix sugar and flour, beat egg yolk with fork. Add egg yolk and milk to flour and sugar. Cook over low heat until thick. Remove, add butter. Cool. Spread between layers and on sides of white cake. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with Angel Flake coconut. Refrigerate.
