Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 Tbsp
- oil - 2/3 c
- hot water - 5 c
- warm water - 1/2 c
- whole wheat flour - 12 c
- dry yeast - 2 Tbsp
- honey or sugar - 2/3 c
How to make wheat bread:
Sprinkle yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes. Combine hot tap water with 7 cups whole wheat flour. Mix until well blended. Add salt and honey or sugar. Mix until well blended. Add 1 cup flour, then yeast mixture and blend thoroughly. Add 3 or 4 cups flour and knead dough until it begins to clean sides of the bowl. Oil hands. Separate dough into sizes to suit your pans. Oil top; cover with damp cloth. Let rise 1/3 in bulk (approximately 35 minutes). Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool on rack.Recipe categories: Breads, Low sodium, Yeast breads.
