Western beef casserole au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- water - 2 c
- margarine - 3 Tbsp
- garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/3 c
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- can whole kernel corn, drained - 1 oz
- grated Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- can chopped green chillies, drained - 1 oz
- mashed potato flakes Idaho brand - 2 pkg
How to make western beef casserole au gratin:
Heat oven to 350°. Lightly grease a 2 1/2 to 3-quart casserole dish. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and onion. Drain well. Add tomato sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper; blend well. Spoon into greased dish. Spoon corn evenly over meat.In medium saucepan, bring water, salt and margarine to a rolling boil. Remove from heat. Stir in milk and potato flakes with a fork to desired consistency. Stir in green chillies. Spread over corn. Sprinkle cheese on top. Cook for 30 to 35 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbles around the edges. Let stand for 5 minutes.
