Waikiki meatballs


Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- cornstarch
- egg - 1 item
- vinegar - 1/3 c
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- ginger - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chopped green pepper - 1/3 c
- ground beef
- cracker crumbs - 2/3 c
- minced onion - 1/3 c
- can pineapple bits, drained, reserve liquid syrup - 1 item
How to make waikiki meatballs:
Sauce:2 Tbsp. cornstarch1/2 c. brown sugar1 can pineapple bits, drained, reserve liquid syrup1/3 c. vinegar1 Tbsp. soy sauce1/3 c. chopped green pepper Mix meat, crumbs, onions, egg, salt, ginger and milk. Shape mixture by rounded tablespoon into balls. Melt shortening in large skillet. Brown and cook meatballs. Remove meatballs. Keep warm. Pour fat from skillet.Mix sauce, cornstarch and sugar. Stir in reserved pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce until smooth. Pour into skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Add meatballs, pineapple bits and green pepper. Heat through. Serve over rice.
